G-Shock Singapore has completed its “From the Beginning to G-Shock GMW-B5000” series of articles on the origin of G-Shock in 1983 to the evolution of the GMW-B5000 series in 2018 and beyond. The series includes five articles, each with a video intro and outro by G-Shock creator Kikuo Ibe. Along with detailed information about the full metal GMW-B5000, the articles cover a variety of other models, including the development of the original G-Shock DW-5000, the first metal MR-G series, and the 18-karat gold G-D5000. The final article features all of the GMW-B5000 models (link is our updated list) through 2020, including all the limited editions. The series is essential reading for anyone new to G-Shock, or for those wondering why the GMW-B5000 and the 5000-5600 “square” series are so revered by G-Shock fans.
