Below are links for the upcoming MR-G watches from G-Shock’s Blue Rose Project: G-Shock MRG-B5000SA-2 (right), featuring blue sapphire inserts and limited to 500 worldwide, and the G-Shock MRG-D5000 (left), featuring a bezel made of blue sapphire and limited to 20 worldwide.
G-Shock creator Kikuo Ibe referred to a then unnamed sapphire project in 2023 during a visit to the Philippines, when he mentioned the continued development of the full sapphire G-Shock concept that was introduced during a G-Shock 35th Anniversary event in New York City. He also teased a possible future announcement at the time, but it was not heard about again until now. The MRG-D5000 has a Dura Soft rubber strap which is not quite a full sapphire exterior like the original concept, but the titanium case is covered with multiple sapphire bezel pieces that are held together without screws in what Casio calls the shock-resistant Multi-Guard Structure.
In Japan, the MRG-B5000SA-2JR has a price of ¥880,000 (~$5,557) with a release date of December 5, and the MRG-D5000 (which appears to be the full model name and will be sold by lottery) has a price of ¥11,000,000 (~$69,473) with a release date of December 1. Hodinkee reported the U.S. price of the MRG-B5000SA-2 as $6,600 and the MRG-D5000 as $80,000. The Blue Rose Project also includes the full metal G-Shock GMW-B5000SB-1A2 (below right) for ¥110,000, which will be released in November.
