G-Shock GBM-2100 adds Tough Solar and Bluetooth to the metal-covered octagonal line

G-Shock continues to expand the popular 2100 universe with the addition of the GBM-2100 series. This previously leaked series adds the Tough Solar and Bluetooth smartphone link features of the resin GA-B2100 in a metal-covered form like the GM-2100. G-Shock officially revealed the GBM-2100-1A2 on its international Instagram account (seen below), and the G-Shock U.K. website (g-shock.co.uk) has four GBM-2100 models listed as coming soon.

The four debut models are the GBM-2100-1A with black dial, GBM-2100A-1A2 with light blue dial, GBM-2100A-1A3 with green dial, and GBM-2100B-7A with a black ion-plated bezel. These models have a textured black resin band, except for the GBM-2100B-7A which has a white resin band. A unique quality of this series is the textured dial with a radiator-like pattern, which is different from GM-2100 dials that often feature a brushed finish.

The silver and black GBM-2100-1A has a positive LCD display, which many will find to be a functional improvement over the negative display of the GM-2100-1A. The new GBM-2100 models may be desirable candidates for a band swap with aftermarket cloth or leather bands, but you will need to find and use third-party strap adapters at your own risk.

The internal functions are expected to be the same as the GA-B2100.

According to the case back, the GBM-2100 doesn’t appear to be a Carbon Core Guard model.

The U.K. price is £229 each for the first three silver models and £249 for the GBM-2100B-7A. The GBM-2100 series is expected to launch in June 2024.

Update: G-Shock U.S. released the GBM2100-1A ($250), GBM2100-1A2 ($250), GBM2100-1A3 ($250), and GBM2100B-7A ($270) in late May. It looks like the white and black GBM2100B-7A may only be available at Casio.com in the U.S.
