Update: The G-Shock GSW-H1000 smartwatch with Wear OS and a color touchscreen was officially revealed. (Follow link for more information.)
Previously reported by Japanese fan blog Great G-Shock World, the blue GA-2100HC-2A and red GA-2100HC-4A are expected to be coming soon. These watches appear to be part of a six-model series, as we also discovered listings for the GA-2000HC-3A (green), GA-2000HC-7A (white), GA-900HC-3A (green), and GA900HC-5A (brown). As there were already blue and red GA-2100 models before this, we expect these new colorways to be somewhat different and perhaps more unconventional (Hyper Color?), but images are not available yet. (Update: See the Hidden Coast Series.)
There is also a Frogman GWF-A1000XC-1A listed with a U.S. price of $1,250, which is more expensive than other recent limited edition Frogman watches like the Borneo Rainbow Toad ($1,100) and Royal Navy (expected to be $1,000). We believe that this new Frogman will have a carbon fiber bezel like the MTG-B1000X models and GWR-B1000X-1A, due to the “X” in the name. (Update: The “C” probably means that it has a composite band.)
Another listing discovered is the GSW-H1000-1 (GSWH1000-1 for U.S.) with a list price of $699. (This is the same source that led us to report on the erroneous “GA-5600,” but it has otherwise been accurate.) We are expecting the GSW-H1000 to be G-Shock’s flagship “G-SMART” smartwatch with Wear OS, a touchscreen, 200-meter water resistance, heart rate monitor, microphone, GPS, and sensors. While there is strong evidence to support these assumptions, nothing about the GSW-H1000 has been officially confirmed yet.
Casio seems to have revealed all of its April 2021 releases already, and major all-new G-Shock models are usually announced months in advance. For a major summer release, we would expect the GSW-H1000-1 to be released in May at the latest, but in that case, we would have expected an announcement by now (or at least some leaks). We believe it is unlikely that it will be released in May or summer. We are expecting the GSW-H1000 to be released in October 2021 at the latest, and we are now more confident that it will be released sometime this year.
(Update: The word on the street is that the GSW-H1000 will be officially announced soon, possibly in April. When we look back at June 2020, the analog Frogman GWF-A1000 was released that month, so perhaps we were wrong in assuming that May would be the latest month for a major all-new model, but a lot of releases were delayed that year, and the GBD-H1000 was originally scheduled for April and released in May. Also, there was no announcement in advance for the GBA-900, which is expected to be released in April 2021. In any case, we are now more hopeful that the GSW-H1000 will be released by June 2021.)
Finally, one of our readers told us that he was watching the ShopHQ shopping channel, and a Casio representative said that they are working on a fire-resistant G-Shock watch.
